The Legacy Begins: Bikfaya, 1936
The Bachir story started in the mountain village of Bikfaya, Lebanon, when founding brothers Edouard and Maurice Bachir began crafting ice cream in the backyard of their family home. What made their recipe special was Ashta — a traditional Lebanese clotted cream with delicate notes of rosewater and orange blossom, generously rolled in roasted pistachios.
The brothers married two sisters, Marie-Antoinette and Yvette Bejjani, and together they built what would become Lebanon's most iconic ice cream brand. What began as a humble family recipe quickly became the talk of the village, with neighbours and visitors lining up for a taste.
